Exchange-traded fund data released this morning shows a mixed picture of investor activity, with notable outflows from major U.S. equity funds and inflows into other asset classes.
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund, ticker XLP, recorded the highest inflow at $625.52 million, bringing its assets under management to $15,571.67 million, a 4.02% increase. SPDR Gold Shares, GLD, followed with $508.95 million in net flows, while the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund, XLF, attracted $439.47 million.
Other funds receiving substantial inflows included JPMorgan Income ETF (JPIE) at $393.20 million, iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM) at $363.57 million, and iShares Core MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (IEMG) at $296.84 million. Vanguard FTSE Developed Markets ETF (VEA), Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI), Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND), and Sterling Capital Hedged Equity Premium Income ETF (SCEP) also saw positive flows ranging from $198.06 million to $261.57 million.
In contrast, Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, VOO, experienced the largest outflow at -$2,356.75 million, reducing its AUM to $867,945.15 million, a -0.27% change. iShares Core S&P 500 ETF, IVV, saw -$1,990.14 million in net flows, and SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, SPY, recorded -$1,355.67 million.
Additional outflows were noted for iShares Russell 1000 Growth ETF (IWF) at -$501.11 million, iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF (IWD) at -$468.11 million, and Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) at -$396.34 million. Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares (SOXL), Capital Group Global Growth Equity ETF (CGGO), Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIG), and Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK) also reported negative flows from -$145.45 million to -$333.53 million.
By asset class, U.S. Equity had net flows of -$4,917.44 million, while U.S. Fixed Income saw inflows of $1,391.21 million. International Equity attracted $1,325.96 million, and Commodities ETFs received $621.56 million. Leveraged funds recorded -$456.71 million in net flows.
Total net flows across all ETFs were -$1,207.38 million, with total AUM at $13,860,465.45 million, representing a -0.01% change. The data is as of 6 a.m. Eastern time on the publication date and is subject to revision.
