HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd has confirmed its expansion into Paraguay, forming a joint venture with the country's telecommunications operator to launch an artificial intelligence cloud platform. The move was announced on January 13.
The US-based digital infrastructure company will deploy its BUZZ AI Cloud platform within a Tier III data center operated by Paraguay's telecommunications provider. The platform aims to provide high-performance computing and AI infrastructure to academic and research institutions, financial services, and healthcare providers.
The platform is set to go live in the first quarter and will utilize the country's renewable hydroelectric power and national fiber network.
Frank Holmes, Executive Chairman of HIVE, stated, "This progression is consistent with patterns we have observed in Texas, including around San Antonio, where infrastructure development began with Tier I data centers and later expanded into capital-intensive Tier III facilities capable of hosting advanced AI workloads."
In November, Hive Digital Technologies produced 290 Bitcoin, marking a 182% increase compared to the same period last year. This followed the company achieving an average hashrate of 23.5 EH/s.
