Drivers who maintain clean records can access deeper discounts, deductible reductions, and cashback twice a year. Safeco offers accident forgiveness for eligible drivers, though availability varies by state and excludes California. The company also provides Small Claim Forgiveness for minor claims under $750, limited to one per policy term.
Customers who go three years without accidents can earn discounts, with additional savings at five years. Safeco's claims-free cash back program returns 2.5% of premiums for each six-month period without claims, capped at 5% annually.
The company scored below average in six out of eleven J.D. Power customer satisfaction regions and didn't rank in the remaining five. Its auto claims satisfaction score was ten points below average.
Safeco offers thirteen coverage types including liability, medical payments, uninsured motorist coverage, collision, comprehensive, roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement, new car replacement, diminishing deductible, custom parts coverage, OEM coverage, pet injury coverage, and rideshare endorsement coverage.
Roadside assistance is available as an optional add-on, covering towing within fifteen miles, flat tire changes using the customer's spare, jump starts, fuel delivery, and lockout help. This coverage doesn't include trip interruption benefits unless motorcycle roadside help is purchased.
Six discounts are available: bundling with homeowners insurance (up to 15% savings), good driver discounts for three and five years of clean driving, multi-car discounts, safety feature discounts, and new teen discounts for existing customers.
Loyalty rewards include Silver status after one year and Platinum status after five years, with benefits varying by state. Long-time customers may receive guaranteed renewal or extra protection benefits.
Claims can be filed online or through the Safeco mobile app 24/7. The company has a preferred repair network, and payments can be made digitally to debit cards or PayPal accounts within minutes of approval, via direct deposit in one to two days, or by mailed check within a week.
The Safeco Mobile app, rated 4.8 stars on the App Store and 4.7 stars on Google Play, allows policy management, digital ID cards, premium payments, claim filing and tracking, and roadside assistance calls.
